In early January Rainbow resident Rachel Salpietro put out a call for locals to sew pouches and beds for native wildlife affected by the widespread fires in Australia.
Amanda Sluggett from Mallee Magic donated material and a large group of ladies from Rainbow and surrounding areas got to work making pouches for many different animals including kangaroos, koalas, bats and flying foxes. Several hundred items have been made with Allira Roberts making one hundred and fifty, having the blisters on her hands to prove it.
Thank you to all who helped with such a wonderful cause.
