There are over 70 active community groups and clubs in Rainbow, covering a wide range of interests and community services, and new members are always welcome.
The Rainbow Archive is situated in the old Masonic Lodge Hall and provides a fascinating look into the history of Rainbow and district. Rainbow Archive and Historical Society support the preservation, conservation and public accessibility of local historical documents, records and photographs for display and research. As part of the Rainbow Progress Association the society encourages family history research, a record of local organisations and heritage studies. Records date from district establishment in 1893 to current times.
Meetings are held on the first Tuesday of the month at 1:30pm.
Meeting each month at the Neighbourhood House, formerly the Old Court House, the group maintains the district’s extensive outdoor mural collection, and takes an active interest in promoting the Arts in the area.
The Rainbow Community Singers are a social singing group that meet at the Neighbourhood House every Tuesday at 10am.
Commenced in 1993. Old time and new vogue dance style, active from early February to late October with a three month recess over summer. Practice on most Sunday evenings from 7.30 – 9.30pm at the Civic Centre, 15 Federal Street Rainbow. Conduct one dance per month throughout year, visitors made very welcome.
Line dancing is held at St Stephen’s Lutheran hall (Albert Street) on Tuesday evenings during the school term from 7.30pm- 9.30pm. Beginners and new members welcome.
The Rainbow Lions Club was formed in 1971, and presently has about twenty members. We meet twice a month on the second and fourth Wednesdays. The fourth Wednesday is a social dinner meeting which our partners attend. Our main aim is to help and support the community however we can. New members are most welcome.
The Rainbow Players have been entertaining Rainbow and district for 30 years, since its inception in 1982. The first production was Agatha Christie’s “The Hollow” and the group have performed over 30 plays since. The Players aim to produce one play each year, from murder/mysteries and comedies to the much loved melodramas. Anyone is welcome to join the group, even if being on stage is not your thing. There are off stage roles such as backstage, production, lighting and sound, front of house, make-up and costuming.

The market on Sunday was a hit with a few hundred people attending.
